I photograph so you can feel the earth beneath you again, and find your way back to your own heart.

I am Julie, photographer, traveller and writer, based in Cape Town.

I followed an intuition. I have always loved making pictures while travelling, and out of pure joy I began photographing people. Life kept nudging me in the right direction, until photography became the way I move through the world.

My work explores the deep, instinctive bond between women and the natural world: transformation, softness and inner freedom, told through intimate and emotionally honest images.

My roots lie in animal care and in long hours spent in the wild, and they still shape how I work. I follow intuition, trust and a deep sense of presence, and I let each session unfold the way it wants to. I specialise in work in natural light only, with whatever the place offers me: water, earth, wind and skin. I look for images that feel raw and sacred at the same time.

This way of seeing runs through everything I photograph: families in the forest and at the sea, women in the landscape they love, rooms in daylight, makers at their benches, and people in countries whose stories I am allowed to tell. One intention connects it all: closeness to yourself, to each other and to the earth.

I love to travel, to discover cultures and to listen before I press the shutter. I feel especially at home working with sustainable brands, whose products are made by hand from natural materials.

Alongside photography, I write. In the Journal you will find travel notes and essays, and in the print shop images for your own walls.
